Thats a wrap on the 2024 lavender bloom season

Our 2024 lavender bloom season wrapped in late July, which feels like a lifetime ago. But, now that farm work has slowed and Fall has FINALLY arrived, I wanted to take a few moments to re-cap our very first season open to the public. A little for me, a little for SEO and a little for 2025 visitors who might happen upon the blog.

Cole’s Notes: it was an amazing first year, and we loved sharing our farm with everyone who visited.

To kick-off our very first bloom season open to the public we co-hosted the inaugural Lavender Bloom Festival with MKT MKT Events, which was a real highlight of the season. On just that day we welcomed 800 visitors, vendors and performers to the farm - whoa. People loved the live music, workshops and unique shopping, and there was a true vibe to the day that I’d describe as friendly and joyful.

For the rest of the season we had another 800 people come out to the farm. After four years of hard work, it was almost surreal to see people walk through the rows of lavender, lay in the fields for hours chatting with friends, and picnic with their family. It was so cool to see people enjoy the space as much as we do. And see visitors leaving a little more relaxed and happier than when they arrived.

I tried to connect with as many visitors as possible to answer questions and get a feel for what people were enjoying most. The fan favourites were:

  • Our Lavender Lemonade Fizz
  • Learning about and smelling the different varieties of lavender
  • Golden Hour Picnics
  • Borrowing a Mini Tipi blanket to lay in the lavender field
  • Elgin’s Coffee (hot or iced)
  • Dried lavender bouquets
  • Lavender sachets to take home

We learned a lot too and began a list of ideas and suggestions to implement next year (or in future years). For next year were already planning on:

  • Bringing back the Lavender Bloom Festival
  • Expanding snack options in our field concession
  • Purchasing umbrellas for shade on those hot (and rainy) days
  • Continuing + expanding the Golden Hour Picnics
  • Keeping the All Season Pass as part of the Lavender Harvest Share
  • Adding more essential oil products to our line-up

Steve and I will do a full debrief in January when we have  our planning session for the 2025 bloom season, so I'd love to know what your favourite part was - or what you'd like to see in 2025. Throw your suggestions in the comments below.

Xo, Stephanie
