Sharing Our Harvest - 2023 Lavender CSA

We dream of building a community around our farm business: we want to engage with people to share our land and harvest. Buying from Tullamore Lavender Co. is really about supporting a farm and farmers. In truth, I want the farm and our product to bring people joy. And I think part of that comes with creating a connection.

One of the best ways of building a community around a farm is through Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). It’s a bit unconventional for a lavender farm to do a CSA, but that’s kinda our thing. We want to offer lavender in a way that no one else is.

Wait, what is a CSA?

The heart of Community Supported Agriculture is a direct relationship with the farmer who grows your produce/flowers. It’s a commitment to supporting a farm (and farmers) who will provide you with a portion of their harvest. It's a model that is most often used for fruit and vegetable farms.

"Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a production and marketing model whereby consumers buy shares of a farm’s harvest in advance. Consumers become CSA members by paying an agreed amount at the beginning of the growing season, either in one lump sum or in installments. This upfront payment helps buy the seed and other inputs needed for the season and provides the farmer an immediate income to begin the season. By paying at the beginning of the season, CSA members share in the risk of production." - Growing Small Farms - NC State

So, we're offering lavender CSA shares.

We expect the following to be included in TLC’s 2023 CSA Share – all pending the success of our growing season:

  • 2 large lavender bouquets (dried or fresh)
  • 1 package of culinary lavender (10-15 grams)
  • Farm access during lavender bloom in July (1 vehicle)
  • $25 gift certificate (for online or on-farm shop)

This is a value of $100+ because we want to reward your faith in us and our farm! Your advance payment enables us to plan, plant, take on new farm projects and focus on farming.

Am I guaranteed to receive the above?

Part of a CSA is agreeing to a bit of risk. If for some catastrophic reason we do not have a lavender harvest, your CSA will look different from the above. We will do our best to ensure you receive a $75 value, but cannot guarantee it.

When will “my share” be ready?

Once you purchase a subscription, we'll send you your $25 gift certificate. You can use it online or in person when you come to pick up your bouquets and culinary lavender.

In June and July you will receive email updates on how our harvest is coming along. If you’re interested in fresh lavender bouquets, pick-up dates will likely be July 8 and 9th. We’ll send out information to subscribers in June to confirm. If you’re interested in naturally dried bouquets, pick up will be in mid to late August and early September; we’ll email out dates in early August. You're welcome to visit on any and all of the CSA dates!

How many people can I bring to the farm?

Each subscriber can bring one (1) vehicle of friends/family. Unfortunately, we cannot have dogs on the farm so you will need to leave your furry friends at home (service animals are permitted).

    How large is your farm?

Our farm is very small compared to many of the lavender farms open for agritourism in Ontario. We have 2,000 plants, but they fit in under an acre of land. We often refer to our farm as a plot or patch, because it’s pretty quaint. We don’t have sprawling lavender fields, but we’re very proud of what we’ve created so far and we’d love to show it to you.

Can I have my lavender shipped to me?

If you are interested in covering the cost of shipping, yes. Shipping within Ontario and Quebec is typically $15-20. Shipping to all other provinces is typically $25-30. Otherwise, you must pick-up your lavender share from our farm.

Still have questions? Send me an email at tullamorelavender@gmail.com; happy to chat. And, thank you for your support of our little lavender dream!

    xo, Stephanie

Hi Leigh! That’s a great idea. I suggest you purchase the CSA under your name and then send me an email letting me know it’s a gift. I can add that person to the mailing list, and then send them the gift card and CSA details directly (once I know you’ve given the gift)!

Hi Stephanie – I would love to be able to gift a TLC CSA Share to a very special person in my life. Do you have an option for this?
