2025 Summer Job: Farm Retail Assistant

Tullamore Lavender Co is a small-scale lavender farm just outside of Arthur, Ontario. The farm is home to 4,500 lavender plants and open to the public in June and July. We’re looking to hire an enthusiastic and reliable individuals to enhance the experience of our farm visitors, and support the plant production side of our business.

There are two position types available (Farm Retail Assistant + Farm Production Assistant). Both are part-time summer jobs and perfect for students looking to work for a portion of their summer break.

Farm Retail Assistant

Working with the owner and a small team, this role is responsible for customer service, wayfinding, managing sales processes, event support and maintaining a safe and respectful environment. As we are a working farm, tasks may also include cutting grass, weeding, cleaning and planting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support on-farm sales through our retail shop and concession stand
  • Manage retail shop sales processes (POS, inventory + merchandising)
  • Prepare and serve food and drink
  • Keep up-to-date with farm and product information; answer customer questions
  • Welcome and greet customers
  • Serve customers in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensure all spaces are tidy and clean
  • Follow all company policies and procedures (including health and safety + food safety)
  • Other duties as assigned, including outdoor farm work

Qualifications and Requirements



  • Excellent verbal communication (including listening) skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Food Handler Certification required (training provided)
  • Must have transportation to and from the farm
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs

The Environment

This position will mainly work outdoors, or within non-temperature-controlled spaces. Much of your day will be spent working on your feet in a potentially busy and people-facing environment. Each day will be a bit different, as the team is very small and the farm is family-run. The work culture is friendly and casual where all members of the team work to build a positive, supportive, and inclusive culture.

Job Term

  • Temporary position for six (6) weeks
  • Mid-June to end of July
  • 12 - 26 hours per week
  • Wednesday – Sunday schedule (ability to work weekends is a must)

Compensation

  • $18-20/hour
  • Paid training (Food Handler Certification)
